Advocacy - Human Rights


MAPS acts as an agent on behalf of Australian Marists and in collaboration with FMSI (Fondazione Marista per la Solidarietá Internazionale) based in Rome and Geneva to advocate for Human Rights with a focus on the rights of children and young people at both the local and international level.chris at un

  1. We work with the Marist Ministries Office in the developmental of educational programs which meet the real needs of young people  in Australia, in the Pacific and in Asia.


  2. We sponsor education research projects and professional development in, and associated with, Marist educational establishments in the Pacific and Asia.


  3. We work with Office of FMSI and its Advocacy  Officer  who operates our  desk  formally accredited to the United Nations  Human Rights Council in Geneva. This desk operates in collaboration with FI (Franciscan International) and ERI (Edmund Rice International) The Marist focus is to have our research on behalf of young people presented before the UN Universal Periodic Review and the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child.
